Lara Fabian出生于一个比利时与意大利联姻的家庭，因此自幼便熟悉意大利文及法语，之后她又学会了英语及西班牙语。8岁起，Lara Fabian开始进入布鲁塞尔炫皇家音乐学校，接受长达10年的正规音乐教育。14岁时，她便经常在父亲的吉他伴奏下表演，并且也是大约自那时起便开始了她的音乐创作。虽然说Lara Fabian拥有非常深厚的古典声乐与理论教育，但她对流行音乐也十分的热衷，其中尤其热爱Barbra Streisand和Queen的音乐，她更通过Queen的音乐见证、聆赏到如何将古典及流行两种音乐元素结合在一起，并运用在她自己的创作与音乐作品中。1991年，Lara Fabian的第一张专辑“Lara Fabian”（法语同名专辑）在加拿大出版发行，到了1993年，这张法语同名专辑卖到了金唱碟的销量，一年之后更取得了白金销量的成绩。同年，Lara在ADISQ （魁北克的音乐大奖）上获得了多项提名，一项民意测验表明，Lara是当时最有前途的魁北克歌手。Lara Fabian的第二张专辑“Carpe Diem”（《及时行乐》）于1994年发行，它的发行证明了Lara在魁北克的成功并不是流星一闪即过。不到三周，Carpe Diem就卖到了金唱碟的销量。“Broken vow ”被收录在“Lara Fabian”（英文同名专辑），制作这张专辑时除了和开创法国歌专辑新时代的老搭档 Rick Allison 之外，还找来了Patrick Leonard、Walter Afansieff 这些曾和Madonna、Mariah Carey 合作的老手跨刀，炮制出十足的国际口味。
